This month
has been so fun! I never realized how
much babies change in such a short amount of time until now. I have a scrapbook already full of baby
pictures and I find myself constantly amazed at how different he looks since
birth. I hate that I’m already
forgetting what he was like as a brand new baby and I wish I had taken more
video instead of just pictures. Bruno
probably thinks I’m crazy because every time I look at the hospital pictures,
I’m like, “Take me back!!! I miss it so much!”
Even though it was stressful with him being in the NICU, they were the
best days of my life.
This week we
had to buy our first box of diapers and we had to buy formula. Buying both at the same time was a
bit shocking. Haha We’ll definitely have to adjust our budget. ;) We introduced
Sammy to formula pretty early on because we wanted to make sure we found a kind
that worked for him since I knew I’d probably have to supplement when I went
back to work. Luckily, he’s never had a
problem with what we’ve given him. I
still want to nurse and pump as long as I possibly can, but I’m trying not to
set my expectations too high.
Samuel Rey
at 2 months:
-Sammy
weighs 14 lbs. and is 23 inches long…24 if you count his hair. ;) He had his
two month appointment today and we all survived the shots. Just like everyone said, we took it harder than
he did. It wasn’t nearly as bad as we
imagined. He cried, but the second I
picked him up he calmed down. He’s a
trooper. The doctor said he’s doing
great!
-He’s still
wearing 0-3 month clothing and size 1 diapers.
-He’s been
cooing more and it’s the cutest thing ever! He also grunts really loud when
he’s trying to poop. Last week, he was
grunting during church and everyone around us thought it was funny. Needless to say, he had a blowout and I was glad
I remembered to put an extra onesie in his diaper bag that morning just in case!
-He is making
more eye contact and starting to smile a little more.
-He’s awake
more now, which is really fun. We
love to read and sing to him.
-My mom
bought him a swing about a month ago and he LOVES it.
-He HATES
his car seat. He does better when we’re
driving or when he’s being pushed in his stroller, but absolutely does not
like to just be sitting.
-Bath time
is finally fun! One time, I asked Bruno
how much longer we should let him play in his tub for because he was enjoying
it. Right after I asked, he started to pee. I hurried and picked him up and said, “well,
that answers that.” haha
-He
discovered his hands and likes to put them in his mouth. Let the drooling begin!
-I trimmed
his nails for the first time and we didn’t have any problems! It helped that he was nursing at the same
time.
-He took his
first trip to Idaho this month. He did
really well in the car! The only time he
got fussy was when we had to stop for construction.
-He finished
his first Harry Potter Movie Marathon – even though he slept through most of
them. ;)
-He loves
looking at his curtains. I don’t know if
it’s the contrast of the colors or what, but he enjoys staring at them while
he’s being changed. Speaking of which,
he doesn’t mind diaper changes anymore, unless he’s really hungry.
-I still
think he’s a pretty easy baby, especially now that he’s sleeping more through
the night. Lately, he’s been sleeping
from 11ish to 5ish!
Going back
to work wasn’t as bad as I imagined. I
think only being 2 minutes away from home helps a ton because he can be brought
to me anytime. Bruno brought him every
day after my meetings were over and even though I had things to do, it was nice
just knowing that he was there. The
school days go by so fast that I don’t think I’ll have too much of a hard time
being away from him. I’m incredibly grateful
to have a job I enjoy. I also have
amazing coworkers who are understanding and so supportive.
I can’t wait
to see what month 3 brings!
